Tula Vera The dinner leftovers of 60’s garage rock with some modern-day spooky blues, Tula Vera’s sound shines through. They’re a four-piece rock n roll band based out of North Jersey playing DIY shows all over, including New Brunswick basement shows, as well as clubs in New York City. Their psychedelic, jazz, and folk influences set their sound apart. Harking back to bands like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix. As well as current artists like Twin Peaks, Courtney Barnett and, Cherry Glazerr. “Tula is Vera Friggin good”- NJ Racket. In 2017 their first self-titled album recorded by Max Rauch from LKFFCT was released, capturing their energetic live set while keeping it sounding cohesive. Currently, Tula Vera is tracking their second full-length album, and planning a tour for January of 2020.
She is a four-piece indie rock group from Richmond, Virginia. With an emphasis on detailed arrangements and musicality throughout, She is the natural byproduct of a combination of love for modern pop music—akin to Weyes Blood and Frank Ocean—and an admiration of the classical compositions each member has been exposed to over the course of their musical training. Live shows are dominated by dynamic maneuvering, touching upon wall-of-sound shoegaze aesthetics, ambient minimalism, and everything in between. She released their self-titled debut single on November 7th, 2019 and recently finished recording their debut EP.
Babbling April has always been a DIY affair, producing the kind of fresh and warmly emotive rock that can hop genres, be quiet or loud, yet always sound distinctly like themselves. Babbling April put out their first EP, On Breath, in February 2015, landing a Noisetrade “New and Notable” feature and plenty of Hypem love. Since then they have continued a tireless schedule, self-recording and self-releasing every song they’ve written while building a dedicated following in the DC underground scene. Recorded and mixed in Dave and Vivi’s basement, the band’s newest EP, Holy Gold, is a testament to the joy Babbling April imbue their music with. Acoustic-meets- shoegaze guitar pop ambience echoes across each track as fevered bass lines and distinct vocal textures weave through. The compositions tend to change tempo and morph beneath the ear-wormy melodies, conjuring up the work of Yo La Tengo, Built to Spill and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
